How to specify your metal enclosure before manufacturing.
Enclosure design starts with the equipment it will house and how it will be used. Before selecting materials or dimensions, gather the requirements for the assembly. This checklist helps prepare a technical review with AMAKA.
List the equipment and components to be installed, their dimensions and mounting points. Include connections, cables and the space needed for operation and maintenance. External enclosure dimensions must be reviewed alongside the internal layout: knowing the size of one piece of equipment alone may not be enough to define the complete assembly.
Access, mounting and maintenance
Specify how the enclosure will be mounted and how personnel will access equipment. Identify doors, removable panels, trays and cable entries that need review. A site sketch and reference photos can help explain space limitations. Fastening and mounting elements must be defined in the approved design.
Environment and ventilation
Specify indoor or outdoor use and relevant environmental conditions. Share equipment thermal requirements and any ventilation, alarm or control needs. AMAKA offers project-specific ventilation and alarm options; the configuration must be confirmed. If you require an IP or NEMA rating, explicitly request it for assessment rather than assuming a standard rating.
Material, gauge and finish
Indoor and outdoor enclosure options include carbon steel, galvanized sheet steel, stainless steel or aluminum. Selection is reviewed based on application, design and operating conditions. Specify any existing material, gauge, color or finish requirement. AMAKA offers powder coating; treatment and applicable details are agreed for the product.
Before approving manufacturing
Review the current drawing, critical dimensions, quantity, layout and included components. Confirm your company's testing and documentation requirements. If the design needs changes, identify the approved revision to avoid manufacturing from outdated information. Send these details to AMAKA so our team can review the enclosure and prepare a proposal suited to the project.
